Things to do and see - Outback Travel Adventure

Things To Do

The Aramac and Muttaburra district is a land of adventure and excitement waiting to be experienced by you. Situated smack ban in the middle of Queensland, the district has picturesque, natural fresh water lakes and ever-changing, breath-taking countryside. First imagine wide horizons, desert rangelands, escarpments, ranges and open Mitchell Grass downs… then experience it on the Cattle Drive.

Discover the epic tale of Harry Redford (Captain Starlight) and the White Bull. Join the infamous Harry Redford Cattle Drive – but beware, you never know what you are getting yourself into.

Step back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the earth and be amazed by Muttaburra’s mighty Muttaburrasaurus Langdoni.

If it is a holiday of relaxation you are after, then you can’t go past Lake Dunn, situated 68 km north east of Aramac. When full, Lake Dunn is the perfect water sport, fishing and bird watching getaway.

History, history, history and guess what? More history! The Aramac Tramway Museum, Muttaburra’s Cassimatis Store and Dr Arratta Memorial Hospital Museum will take you on a journey of the good old days and how it used to be. You will be amazed at what you uncover.

Still not convinced? How about bush walking at Grey Rock near the site of the old Wayside Hotel (where you can see the unique bush visitor’s book). Here, the Cobb and Co used to stop and visitor’s names have been carved in the rock. Venture on to the Horsetailers’ Gorge where horses were kept for an overnight spell.

So if it is a holiday of history, excitement or relaxation that you long for – it’s all here in the Aramac and Muttaburra district.
